The Grade School Auditorium was the main gathering place Friday as people began arriving for the weekend's activities. Class graduation pictures hung around the Auditorium sparked many conversations and helped many show their children and grandchildren what they looked like years ago. The Clark County Historical Society hosted the ice cream social and Stockgrowers State Bank Sponsored the Friday night entertainment of oldies music performed by Freddy Fox and the Hot Rods. Saturday started early with the Fireman's Breakfast and an assortment of activities at the High School including Kite flying, timed runs, predict walks, tennis and 3 on 3 basketball. The Ashland Country Club played host to 50 teams competing in the golf scramble while the Pioneer Museum had to find a bigger bus to transport everyone that wanted to take the house bus tour. Down a the grade school, participants in the Scavenger Hunt were picking up their first clue while the Christian Motorcycle Association was hosting bike games and the Kiwanis bike races were getting underway. Maylene Freelove (88) of Prairie Smoke and her crew provided the meal for 625 people at the evening Banquet where Henry Gardiner (49) served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening's program and shared remarks about Mr. J.E. Humphreys and his contributions to the school. Travis McCarty (99) performed his "Mr. Gilmore" impersonation and told of his recollections of being a 7th grader and teacher Jane (Shreve) Rankin and others. Following the annual meeting, newly elected President John Humphreys led the group in the fight song. Complete Music, a DJ Service, provided music in the City Park to complete the day's activities. On Sunday the Class of 1941 conducted the Memorial Service at Highland Cemetery with Joe Hunter and S.G. Ihde reading the honor roll of classmates who have passed away since the 1995 reunion. Bessie Seacat accompanied Jim McNickle (70) and Curtis Rhoades (37) who sang during the service which concluded with taps played by Gary Allison and Derek Moore. Throughout the weekend the weather cooperated by raining during the night and having nice sunny days for planned activities.
